This recording starts off with my paternal grandmother Wilma talking about going to get warts charmed off her feet, then moves into a conversation about wart charming between myself, Wilma, her husband Fred, their son and my father Randy, and my mother Valerie.

Wilma: Oh that was after we moved to Fayetteville and we lived in Clarksdale out down from you know where the High School is and back over…

Valerie: On the west side of Fayetteville over there?

Fred: To the west and south of Highway 62.

Wilma: The confederate cemetery is down there, it’s on from there. Anyway, but that’s where we lived, that’s where Pat and Lloyd lived, when we moved up here, and they had built some new little rent houses, somebody had, in there, and we got one of those. But anyway, while we lived there and I had these, I think they call em seed warts on the bottom of my feet, I mean there were a bunch of em, it was hard to walk. (Randy: Planter’s warts) But there was an old lady lived there and they said to take me to her and see like I was fifteen years old, and so we went to see that old lady and she looked over me feet and rubbed over em you know and everything and she said “Oh they’ll go away.” And they did.

Valerie: She just rubbed over em and stuff?

Wilma: Yeah she didn’t put anything on em or anything…

Fred: Randy you remember them warts you had on your hand that your uncle Bill bought? (Valerie: Bought from you)

Randy: Mhmm. Yeah he gave me a quarter for all of em I think.

Fred: I don’t remember how much…(can’t understand)

Wilma: But this old lady she did, you know, people in that area I guess a lot of people lived in that area of Fayetteville there, in Fayetteville.

Randy: You remember her name?

Wilma: I have no idea what her name was. I don’t ever remember…

Valerie: But she’d do remedies for people?

Wilma: Yes, well she did things like that you know it was like magic (Fred: Magic) stuff. But that’s all that was ever done for those…

Fred: Well I one on my knuckle a big ol’ wart for years and years and I think Billy took it off. Anyway it finally did disappear. I mean it was a big ol’ wart right there on that knuckle. It was as big as a BB, you know big as a good BB…

Randy: Oh I’ve had some big ones before…

Brandon: And he would just give you a coin, and buy it off you?

Randy: Buy it, yeah, it’ll go away. Well they go away anyway…

Fred: They go away anyway, but whatever…

Valerie: It goes faster if you get money…

Wilma: I think what it is, you forget about em, you know…

Fred: Well it took mine, it’d been there for several years anyway, it finally went away, whatever it was.
